How Hot Tapping Works

Hot tapping provides a safe, reliable, and effective means to create a branch connection on ”live” piping and pressure vessels without the interruption of service in that section of pipe or vessel. This allows clients to maintain production and avoid costly outages while enhancing their facility production capacity. While hot taps are frequently used as a tie-in point for new piping, they are also performed as a means to deploy inline instrumentation such as thermowells and panametric flow meters. Completing a hot tap is also the first step in performing a line stop.
